the simple life

do you remember the crickets or the cicatas in the summertime? do you remember the locust skins stuck on trees or catching worms after the park was flooded?
do you remember being five years old and wearing a cute little
pink ruffled bathing suit? do you remember where you spent all
of your afternoons with your best friend playing hid and go seek or tag in the yard? do you
remember your mom telling you to be home before it gets dark and then her having to come and find you because you were a wee bit later than you were suppose to be? do you remember getting grounded and throwing a fit to talk your parents out of punishment? do you remember back when you were just
a little girl and that was as hard as it was going to get, well
i do. and i just wanted to know how long is this world going to be
complicated? how long are we going to manipulated into doing things
that no one should ever do? how long? because a whole lot
of me misses the simple life where the only thing that was on the
surface was the grass beneath my feet. and the only thing I had to
worry about was how much my sun burn hurt.
